WhatsApp chat isn't working

Fix common issues with the Magisterium AI WhatsApp bot.

If you aren't getting responses on WhatsApp, here's the checklist.

Make sure you're messaging the right number

Our official WhatsApp number is +1 (888) 818-6248. Messages to any other number won't reach Magisterium AI.

Say "Hi" to start

If you haven't chatted before, send a simple message like "Hi" to initialize the conversation. WhatsApp sometimes needs a first message before the bot can respond.

Check WhatsApp's own status

  • Confirm you can send a message to another contact. If not, the issue is with WhatsApp, not us.
  • Make sure you have an internet connection on your phone.

Messages not counted correctly?

Link your number so WhatsApp usage counts against your Magisterium AI plan — otherwise you'll be treated as an unlinked user with stricter limits.

  1. In the Magisterium AI web or mobile app, go to Settings → WhatsApp.
  2. Enter your phone number and complete the SMS code step.

Images not working

  • Max image size is 5 MB on WhatsApp.
  • Only image file types are supported — not PDFs or Office files. For documents, use the web or mobile app.

Usage cap reached

WhatsApp shares your plan limits with the web (90/week on Free, unlimited on Pro/Org). A short per-minute throttle (~10 AI messages a minute per phone) also applies to prevent abuse — if you hit that, wait a minute before sending again. If you've hit the weekly limit, wait for the reset or upgrade your plan.

No response at all

  • Delete and re-create the chat in WhatsApp.
  • Check the status page.
  • Contact us and choose Bug reporting. Mention the approximate time of your last message and the phone number you're using so we can look it up.
