Deleting chats vs clearing all prompts
When to remove one chat, and when to wipe everything at once.
May 11, 2026
Magisterium AI gives you two ways to get rid of chat history. Pick the one that matches what you're trying to do.
Delete one chat
Use this when you want to remove a specific conversation.
- Hover the chat in the sidebar.
- Click the three-dot (⋯) menu and choose Delete.
- Confirm.
The chat is gone immediately, along with its references and any memories the AI had derived from it.
Clear all prompts
Use this when you want to start with a clean slate.
- Click your name in the sidebar and choose Settings.
- Open the Data controls page from the account sidebar.
- Under Clear All Prompts, click Clear.
- Read the confirmation dialog and confirm.
This wipes every chat, every saved response pin, and the memories derived from them.

Which one should I use?
| Situation | Use |
|---|---|
| "I want to forget this one awkward question." | Delete one chat |
| "I'm selling or returning my computer." | Clear all prompts |
| "I want to start over." | Clear all prompts |
| "I accidentally included sensitive info." | Delete the specific chat |
What this doesn't delete
Neither option deletes:
- Your account — use Delete Account on the Account page for that.
- Your My Library (saved documents and page bookmarks).
- Your Personalization settings.
- Your subscription.
Exporting first
You can download a JSON copy of your data (including chats) from Settings → Data controls → Export Data before deleting.
