Should I use Chat, Search, or Explore?

Use Chat when you want an explanation, Search when you want to find and read sources, and Explore when you want to discover connections between passages.

Choose your starting point

• Chat: Ask a question such as “Why do Catholics go to confession?” to get an answer you can discuss with follow-up questions.
• Search: Enter a topic such as “confession” to see relevant passages from the library. Open a result to read the source in context.
• Explore: Enter a topic such as “forgiveness” to see matching passages on an interactive map. Browse nearby points and subject groups to discover more to read.

For example, if you are preparing a lesson on confession, start in Chat for an overview, use Search to find supporting texts, and visit Explore to discover related material.

Switch between the three views

1. Sign in to Magisterium AI to display the mode controls.
2. Find the Chat · Search · Explore controls at the top of the app.
3. Select the view you want, then enter a question or topic in that view to begin.

If you are signed out, open Search directly to search without the mode controls. You can also go directly to Explore, which will ask you to sign in.

Before you start

Search and Explore are currently available in the English interface. You can use the direct Search link while signed out; Explore requires sign-in. If you do not see the mode controls, check that you are signed in and that your interface language is English. These instructions describe the web app; the layout may differ on a smaller screen.

Searches in Search and Explore use the same query allowance as Chat. Applying filters to an active search runs another search. If you reach your allowance, follow the limit message in the app or check your plan.

How is Search different from Source Library?

Source Library helps you browse the collection by document title or author. Search helps you find relevant passages about a topic within the collection. Use Source Library when you want to browse books and documents; use Search when you want to find what they say about something.
