Collecting parish reports and preparing diocesan returns
Set up templates and reporting cycles, track parish progress, and handle corrections after submission.

Parish Reports gives your diocese a shared place to collect Annual Parish Pastoral Reports and Official Catholic Directory (OCD) updates. It also provides separate forms for diocesan returns, including Annuario Pontificio and Quinquennial reports.
You need diocesan reporting permissions to manage cycles and templates or reopen submissions.
Choose a template
- Open Parish Reports and choose Templates.
- Create an Annual draft or OCD draft to start a diocesan version of the corresponding global template.
- Choose Customize, review the sections and questions, and make the changes your diocese needs.
- Publish the template when it is ready to assign to a reporting cycle.
Some questions are connected to the parish’s stored figures and have protected settings. Keep these connections intact. Published templates and versions already in use cannot be edited in place; use a new draft version for later changes.
Open a reporting cycle
- In the reporting overview, select the report type and reporting year.
- Set the deadline and choose an available published template, or use the automatic template selection offered by the form.
- Create the cycle, review its settings, and choose Open cycle when parishes should begin.
The template is fixed once the cycle has opened. Check the report type, year, and template before opening it. Annual and OCD are separate reporting workflows, so review each one you intend to collect.
Track parish progress
The parish roster shows progress for the selected report type and year. A parish’s saved draft becomes visible to the diocese after its first autosave; you do not have to wait for final submission to see work in progress. Treat a draft as unfinished information.
Choose Open report to inspect an available form. The roster also includes directory parishes that do not yet have a linked workspace. An unlinked parish must complete the parish application process before it can participate; the disabled Invite / provision control does not create a workspace.
Handle submissions and corrections
Submitting freezes a snapshot of the parish’s answers and locks the figures connected to that submission. If a correction is needed, a parent-diocese administrator opens the report, chooses Reopen for correction, and provides a reason. That reason is visible to the parish and in its report history.
The parish can then review the request, correct the reopened form, and submit again. If the form reports a conflict because someone else changed it, reload the current version and review it before continuing.
Close the cycle when collection is complete. A closed cycle prevents further editing, so resolve outstanding corrections before closing it.
Prepare the diocese’s own returns
Use the diocesan reports area for Annuario Pontificio and Quinquennial forms. These have their own draft and completed states. Review the information and any prefilled values before marking a return complete; completion locks that report.
Saving, submitting, or completing a form in Catholic Intelligence should not be taken as confirmation that it has been delivered to an outside publisher or Church office. Follow the recipient’s required delivery process and use the available export or print controls as needed.
