Using and updating your diocesan directory and map

Directory and Map help you find the parishes, clergy, staff, and locations associated with your diocese. Directory information is compiled from public records, with coverage that varies by diocese. Review the source notes before treating a record as current.

Find a directory record

1. Open Directory from the diocese sidebar.
2. Choose the relevant tab: Parishes, Priests, Staff, or Ministries where it is available.
3. Search for a name or use Filters to narrow the list. Filters appear when the available records support them.
4. Open a record to review its details and any links to its parish page or location.

If a record appears to be missing, clear the search and filters first. An empty section may mean that information has not been compiled for that diocese yet.

Review and correct information

For a claimed parish, open its own workspace to update the parish profile, schedules, staff, and ministries using the controls available to your account. Parish public visibility is managed separately, so saving a field does not necessarily make it visible to every visitor.

Authorized diocesan users may also see Add parish in the diocesan directory. Use it for a genuinely missing parish after checking existing names and records to avoid duplication.

Not every compiled diocesan record has an inline editing control. If the field you need to correct cannot be edited, contact support with the diocese name, the record, the correction, and a reliable source. Demo-only editing and CSV tools shown in a walkthrough should not be taken as available live directory import tools.

Explore the map

Open Map to view the Catholic Boundary Map centered on your diocese where a matching boundary is available. Explore parish locations and service areas, or use the control to open the full map in a new tab. Diocese maps require a signed-in account.

A parish location and a boundary describe different things: the location identifies a place, while the boundary outlines an area. Updating a parish’s contact address does not by itself redraw a diocesan or parish boundary.

The Edit boundaries entry, when shown to an authorized diocesan user, leads to Settings. It does not turn the embedded map into a drawing editor. If the correction you need is not available there, send support the affected area and the source for the correct boundary.

Check the visitor experience

After updating parish information, view the parish page using an account without team access or a private browser window. Some details require a free account, and unpublished parish sections remain restricted. This helps you distinguish what is saved for your team from what visitors can actually see.
