Renaming, pinning, and searching your chats

Keep your Chat History tidy with rename, pin, delete, and search.

May 11, 2026

Your chats are listed in the sidebar and in the full Chat History view. A few simple actions keep them organized.

Rename a chat

  1. Hover a chat in the sidebar.
  2. Click the three-dot (⋯) menu and choose Rename.
  3. Type a new name and press Enter.
The left sidebar's Chat History list with the three-dot (⋯) menu open on a 'What is hope?' chat row. The popover menu shows three actions stacked vertically: Pin, Rename, and Delete (in red). The rest of the sidebar lists New Chat, Search, Source Library, My Library, Holy Widgets, News, About, Blog, and Developers above the Chat History group. The main column shows the 'What is hope?' answer for context.

Titles are automatically generated from your first message, so renaming is only needed if the default doesn't work for you.

Pin the important ones

From the same menu, choose Pin. Pinned chats sort to the top. See How do I save a response?.

Delete a chat

Search your chats

  1. Press Ctrl+K (or ⌘K on Mac) to open the sidebar search, or click the search icon at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Type a few words from the chat you're looking for.
  3. Pick from the suggested results. The search also lets you jump to features (widgets, settings, etc.).
A command palette dialog is open over the chat page, with a 'Search chats or features…' input at the top and two sections below it: Suggestions (New Chat, News) and Chat History (loading skeletons because this account has no chats).

What's not supported

  • Folders or tags — chats are a single flat list, organized by recency and pinned status.
  • Bulk delete — delete individual chats one by one, or clear everything via Settings → Data controls → Clear All Prompts.
