Using Voice Mode
Have a live, spoken conversation with Magisterium AI.
May 11, 2026
Voice Mode lets you speak with Magisterium AI as if it were a real conversation — you talk, it answers out loud, and you can interrupt to follow up.
On the web, Voice Mode requires Pro, Organization, or Large Organization. On Free, clicking the waveform icon sends you to the Plan page.
Start a voice session
- Open any chat and sign in with a Pro+ account.
- Make sure the text box is empty, then click the waveform icon next to the submit button.
- Grant your browser permission to use the microphone if prompted.
- Start speaking.

During a voice session
- A glowing box wraps the chat bar while you're in a session.
- The bar shows live status: Connecting, Transcribing, or Start speaking.
- A visualizer shows the AI's voice while it's speaking — tap it while it speaks to interrupt and ask a follow-up.
- The mute button pauses your mic without ending the session. When muted, the bar shows "You are currently muted".
Choose a voice and language
Inside a session, click the gear icon to open the voice and language picker:
- Choose a Male or Female voice persona.
- Choose the language the AI should speak in.
Your choice is saved for future sessions.
End the session
Click the X where the waveform button used to be, or say something like "end session". Your spoken conversation is saved in your chat history just like a typed chat. Messages created in a voice session are tagged Live in the transcript.
Plan availability
Voice Mode is a Pro feature on the web. If you reach the live voice service from a client that allows Free access (the backend safety-net allows up to 10 minutes per 7 days before refusing), each session is automatically capped at the time you have left.
Pro, Organization, and Large Organization plans have unlimited Voice Mode.
Voice Mode vs Listen (TTS)
- Voice Mode is a live, two-way spoken conversation.
- The speaker icon under a written answer is different — it reads an existing written answer out loud. See How do I have an answer read aloud?.
Troubleshooting
- If the button is greyed out, you need to be signed in and have the text box empty.
- If nothing happens when you speak, check your microphone permissions for the site and your input device.
